look book: copycat

The blogging community is an inspiration place. Am I right or am I right? I'm constantly seeing things new ways and being inspired to make them my own, whether it's with an outfit, a recipe, or room decor. One blogger that happens to inspire me a lot is Blair from Atlantic-Pacific. That girl is so cute and fashionable and totally speaks to my girly side. This outfit of hers has been one of my favorites and, while I'm not nearly as pretty and stylish as she is, I couldn't help wearing something a little similar. All I need now is a pretty pink bow in my hair! A little copycatting can't be too bad right?

I am SO ready for this weekend! It's our last one in the apartment and in our cute little neighborhood so we're going to enjoy every minute of it. And maybe I'll start packing if I'm feeling motivated. But packing is the worst so I bet I'll be pushing that off for as long as I can.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

man men style

Yes the weekend is finally here!! It's always so long after a short holiday week, don't you think? I'm so excited for this weekend in particular because tomorrow night is Matthew's company's Holiday Party!! The theme, which you may have guessed, is Mad Men! I'll admit that I've never seen more than 5 minutes of the show. I know I'm probably missing out because the styling is amazing..and I love that era! I've been looking at photos online of the beautiful leading ladies trying to figure out what the heck I'm going to wear. Here are some of the pictures I grabbed for inspiration...
I absolutley love Betty Draper's hair so I'm hoping I can style mine similarly. I'm planning on watching lots of YouTube videos tomorrow for hair and makeup tutorials. Fingers crossed it turns out!

Have a lovely weekend everyone! Any exciting plans?

the fourth

HAPPY BELATED 4TH!
I just got back from a lovely weekend in San Diego. I drove down with Matthew and Ginger and spent a lot of time with my best friend Elizabeth and her dog Talula. We had a lot of fun although were a little disappointed that the sun didn't show itself once! It was a very cloudy and somewhat gloomy 4th. So surprising for San Diego! Regardless we made it fun with dog walks, outdoor brunches, a trip to Balboa Park, singing patriotic songs, and watching lots of Food Network shows. How was your 4th?

My blogging friend Michelle has started a new project called Might & Main. Might and Main is aimed at inspiring people to live life on their own terms and giving them the tools to do so. She just posted her own personal Declaration of Independence and it's too inspiring not to post...

From this day forth, I declare myself to be independent from the status quo. I will not be part of a thoughtless, wasteful lifestyle. Instead, I will embrace the opportunities and freedoms provided to me to live my own fulfilling life.

I will no longer chase others’ dreams; I will discover and start chasing my own.

I will stop caring about fitting in; instead I will stand out as an example.

I will pursue happiness as defined by me.

I will make thoughtful choices about my consumption habits.

I will be a responsible citizen, choosing actions that are best for me and my community.

Check out Might & Main for more motivational posts!

valentine's day inspiration

So I think there are two types of people: those that love Valentine's Day and those who hate it. I hope everyone loves it at some point though because if you get around the idea that you have to be with someone it can be really special! I remember loving this "holiday" ever since I was in elementary school. I loved making those paper bag mailboxes and leaving little "love notes" in classmates' bags. Even when I haven't been in a relationship my family has always used it as an excuse to celebrate our love for each other. We make cookies, write cards and I think it's pretty cute. Matthew and I are celebrating this year by going up to San Francisco and while we said no big gifts, I want to make him a little something..or at least decorate! And when I need a little inspiration who did I turn to? The mother of all crafting..Martha Stewart!

From top to bottom: Crayon Hearts, Bonbon-Filled Hearts, Handmade Heart Doilies, Heart Shaped Tea Bags, Lacy Votive Holder, King/Queen of Hearts Card, Quiling Stationary, Seed Starter Valentines

I love so many of these! But finding the time might be tricky. My grandma came in town Monday from the East Coast and my mom and I are going to Santa Barbara with her tomorrow and then Friday Matthew and I are heading up to the Bay Area. So much to do in so little time!

This may be my Friday so if I don't post until next week
Happy Valentine's Day!

sit back and wave through the daylight

Matthew and I saw this amazing band last night and they were AWESOME! It was so great to finally see them live. Oh and Silversun Pickups were incredible. I didn't know much about them before "Panic Switch" but I really like their other stuff a lot! I'll have pictures to post tomorrow, although I didn't get any really good ones of the band. So today I thought I'd share some of my favorite pictures that I just can't stop starting at:

Images from  The Sartorialist, VMag, &  Stockholm Street Style

Clearly I'm loving the dark hair, red lips and jean shorts. Simple yet beautiful. I'd definitely say "my style" is more classic and girly. I like clean and classic silhouettes, with subtle yet gorgeous details {see entire J. Crew & Anthropologie collection}. How would you define your style?

BTW: Does anyone know how to make pictures bigger on Blogger and not click to enlarge?
