weekend in the city where the heat is on..

Last weekend I went to Miami because I won a giveaway from Refinery29, one of my favorite fashion sites! It was such a whirlwind but Lizzie and I had the best time ever. The giveaway was a Day to Night Revlon contest so I got a day makeover and a night makeover featuring Revlon's new Custom Eyes eyeshadow palates. We also went shopping at Curve boutique in the Gansevoort Hotel, brunch at Angler's and an extravagant lobster dinner at Prime One Twelve. Here are some photos from our weekend in the city of heat.

 

 

 

I had such a great time with Anna and Connie from Refinery29! The funny thing is that Connie and I both graduated from Berkeley the same year and have some mutual friends in common. I'm 95% positive we've even met before. Both of them made me realize how badly I want to move to New York City. Weekends in Miami might be a lot more manageable! sigh can I go back and do this again, pretty please?

look book: field of dreams

The 1970s is one of my favorite eras so doing a shoot with this concept was so fun! Alexandra has such a talent for finding beautiful locations and using the light beautifully. I really love that the fashion  from the 70s is coming back into style. I just wish my mom had saved more of her clothes so I could wear them now!! There's something about jumpsuits, head-wraps, wide leg jeans, crochet tops and dresses that is just so natural and bohemian. It puts you in a more relaxed state of mind. Maybe I should dress only in 70s fashion for the next five weeks to avoid the inevitable wedding stress that's going to hit the fan!

This week is going by so much quicker than I expected. The whole month has really flown by. I'm not going to lie, I might be a mess next week when it hits the one month mark for the wedding. Still so much to do! Matthew and I are having a little shopping date tonight to look for shirt/tie combos. We're trying to fit the fun in where we can haha

I'm so excited to finally share these photos with you guys! A few weeks ago I did a shoot with a really great LA photographer, Alexandra DeFurio, who is known for shooting young teenage celebrities. While I'm far from a teenager {wait, when did that happen?!}, it was such a fun opportunity! Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing some of the different shoots that I helped style, along with the amazing  stylist Staci Koondel. I wish I owned all the gorgeous pieces she pulled! These were taken at my favorite little neighborhood place, Aroma Cafe. It's the best place for chocolate cake, milk, and people watching!

Here is the incredible Super 8 film that Joel Serrato shot. I can't get over how beautiful the lighting looks and I love the songs Joel chose. It's so sweet and magical! Joel really captured the day so well. Looking back on this, I feel like I'm there. Film is such a great source of memories. I'm glad Matthew and I will always have this to look back on and remember this special experience!

I am so excited to finally tell you all about our shoot with Jose Villa in July. Remember when Matthew and I went to Santa Barbara? Well that was just a stop on our way to shooting with Jose and his awesome team. We went to this ranch in Solvang and got to run around the play with a sweet {but stubborn} horse. I am thrilled to now be able to share these beautiful pictures with all of you! Matthew and I were so lucky to have this opportunity and it was such a fun experience.

Jose is an incredible photographer and all the pictures are just phenomenal. He and his awesome team made us look fantastic! If you don't already know about Jose and his work check out his site and blog. You will be blown away!

The flowers and styling were done by Joy Thigpen and Emily Newman of Once Wed. They both had such a great vision and executed it perfectly!
