look book: a date with joan

Matthew and I went on a little lunch date to Joan's on Third.  I seriously crave their caprese sandwich! We sat at the long communal table, and it was funny because when I took a picture of the sandwich the woman next to me asked what I was doing. She was like, "I've seen that a lot, where people take photos of their food. My friend said they blog about it, do you?" It was a little awkward because I was like, "yeah.." I was caught off guard. I guess it is a weird thing, but why not document it? Even before I had a blog I took photos of my food. It's always made sense to me but I forget that some people don't get it.

a date to the gelateria

Matthew and I love gelato. There was this place in the Bay Area that we loved and we haven't found one in LA that comes close! Some people think gelato is the Italian name for ice cream but that's not it. Gelato has a greater whole milk to cream content than ice cream so that's why it's creamier and more rich. Therefore more delicious! This place that we went to apparently didn't get it. I won't judge a place from the first visit alone but I will say they had lots of unique {read: unauthentic} flavors. I felt like I was in Baskin Robbins! Regardless, it was still tasty and satisfied the sweet tooth!

hunting for favorites

Matthew and I are in the process of developing all new Los Angeles favorites. We developed a lot in the Bay Area but are slowly finding new ones together here in my hometown. We both absolutely love Pizzeria Mozza. It's probably the best pizza I've ever had. {Although I do love Cheeseboard in Berkeley} But, because the wait at Mozza is ridiculous we needed an easy, neighborhood spot. In comes Pitfire Pizza. SO good! We had a little night out and shared a basic margarita pizza, burrata and beet salad, and some Blue Moons. I've also had the Burrata Pie with carmelized onions, wild arugala, hazelnuts, and pesto. Yep..I'm drooling right now.

Sigh I am SO ready for this week to be over. I was at the magazine until 7 p.m. tonight! {And I'm not even getting paid!!} Need to relax pronto!
