sex and the city 2

When Elizabeth was in town the other week we got together with our other bestie Hanna to see Sex and the City 2. Before the show we got some drinks and a quick bite to eat at The Farm of Beverly Hills. It was a sunny LA afternoon so we sat outside. I love when the weather is like this!

Cornbread Muffins

Warm Pear and Brie Sandwich on Toasted Raisin Walnut Bread with Sweet Potato Fries

We weren't expecting the movie to be amazing {or better than the series}, but I think it could have been a little better. Did any of you see it? What did you think?

emma

Last night was the last of the Emma miniseries on BBC. I'm a little behind though so I started the first part after the Superbowl. {{Oh and about that.. I don't pay that much attention to football so I didn't have a preference in who won. I did spend some time in New Orleans though with Habitat for Humanity so at first I was happy for the Saints gaining the lead but then I was hoping for a Colts comeback. Either way it was still a good game!}}

But back to Emma..I love Jane Austen. I've been a fan since I was a little girl when I got the complete set of her books as a birthday present. My best friend Elizabeth and I bonded over that since there weren't many other 10 year olds who were swooning over Mr. Darcy and Mr. Knightly. I have enjoyed the film adaptations, like the 1996 version with Kate Beckinsale, and the feature film with Gweneth Paltrow. And maybe you already know that Clueless with Alicia Silverstone was based off Emma? I was surprised how much I enjoyed this new one with Ramola Garai. She's pretty, isn't she? She reminds me of a mix between Cameron Diaz and Alicia Silverstone. She was more silly than Gweneth Paltrow's portrayal but still up to no good!

I've always loved this era, with the simple style of dresses in beautiful fabrics, the hats, the hair, the dancing, the picnics. I want to be there too!

Today I'm feeling a little under the weather and all I want to do is snuggle up and finish the series! I hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Update: You can watch Emma online here!

the fall.

Matthew has been dying to get me to see this movie and we finally saw it last night. If you haven't seen Tarsem's The Fall you absolutely must. It came out a couple years ago I think but I loved it. Here's the plot: In an infirmary in the 1920s an injured stuntman becomes friends with a little girl with a broken arm, and tells her an epic story about 5 heroes in search of revenge. There's this fantastical storytelling element {think Princess Bride} and the scenery is gorgeous {it was shot in 18 different countries!} I'll warn you that it is a little sad at the end but it's a story that definitely stays with you.

You can watch the trailer here.
