walking around seaport village

Before Matthew and I headed back up to LA we stopped by Seaport Village, this really cute area in San Diego. The sun was shining, people were flying kites, shopping, eating yummy treats, and talking to parrots! I wish we could have spent more time there, and maybe had a picnic, but we had to start the drive back. {For not being too far away traffic can be horrible!} Still, it was fun to walk around and see what this place is all about.

I'm looking forward to our next trip back! Now that the weather is heating up, and there are predictions for a very warm September and October, we can finally get our surf lessons on! It was on my list of New Year's Resolutions, remember?

a santa barbara field trip

Sorry I've been MIA these past two days! Matthew and I took a day trip yesterday to Santa Barbara and had such a fun day exploring! We were expecting the weather to be a little cooler up north but it was still pretty hot {80 degrees compared to LA's 90s}. We stopped by the beautiful Santa Barbara Mission. It's on the top of a hill and the views are incredible! You can see the ocean and they have such a sweet flower garden.

Matthew and I loved the permanent chalk drawings on the ground. Some of them were so cool!

We stopped by Crushcakes, Santa Barbara's supposed first cupcakery, for a little treat..or 4! I didn't know it until I got home but they were actually featured on the Food Network's Cupcake Wars! {I need to catch up with my DVR!}

On the wall it says, "you'll always remember your first crush."

They're known for the crushcake which is their version of a red velvet. It's a chocolate cake dyed red with a sour cream cheese frosting!

We got a crushcake, a coconut cloud, a cool vanilla bean and a buttermilk crumb cake {buttermilk cinnamon swirl cake with brown sugar cinnamon frosting}.

Definitely an A! I thought the cupcakes were sweet, yet not overpowering, and pretty moist! Matthew and I had SO much fun! We're definitely looking forward to our next visit.

the happiest place on earth

Yesterday was so much fun! Matthew and I went to Disneyland with his family and had the best time ever. I haven't been since I was a senior in high school and it's always so much fun when you're going with little kids. Their excitement rubs off pretty easily! I was surprised by how crowded it was for a Tuesday when school was in session and the weather forecast wasn't that great. But we still managed to get on rides pretty quickly. And even when it started drizzling in the afternoon we carried on !

I burned myself on a curling iron so that explains the red mark :(

Matthew's nephew Jonathon with his Star Wars blaster {and Mickey hat that says "Luke"..so cute!}

Loved when rides fit all 15 of us!

getting ready for It's a Small World

sigh can I live in that castle please?

Last night it took me forever to fall asleep. When I closed my eyes I felt like I was on Pirates of the Caribbean and "Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me" was stuck in my head! I guess that's better than "It's a Small World," though, right?!

visiting anthony.

Driving back down after Presidents' Day Weekend Matthew and I stopped to see my brother Anthony. He's a Junior at UC Santa Cruz and we are really close. I miss him so much now that I'm home and he's away. We got some pizza at Pizza My Heart {lovingly referred to as PMH}.

Brother captured Matthew checking my teeth for food..thanks

Isn't my brother just the cutest? I can't believe he's turning 21 in a little over a month! I still think of him as this little guy! And this one! Sigh I want to be a kid again!

lunch in los olivos

On Friday Matthew drove up to Santa Barbara with my dad and, before heading on our way up to SF, we all went to Los Olivos for lunch..a little town north of SB. My mom had traveled with some of her close friends last year and they stopped at this little restaurant/cafe called Panino. She suggested we go there and I'm so glad we did! The weather was perfect for sitting outside, drinking sparkling water and eating our enormous & delicious sandwiches!

That's only a snapshot of the veggie sandwiches and salads. So meat eaters, imagine the other side of the menu is just as tasty! All the ingredients were so fresh and I loved my Avocado and Provolone sandwich with cucumber, tomato, basil, and honey mustard.

facing monday

Well I'm back from a sweet but too short weekend in SF. I saw my brother Anthony in Santa Cruz. His dorm room is cute but oh so tiny! Matthew and I saw The September Issue which I loved, went shopping at Jeremy's and bought 3 pair of shoes and ate lots of sushi. I had to drive my Dad's car back down yesterday so I left earlier than I would have liked. But, I'll be back soon! I hope everyone had a great weekend!
