san diego sun and fun

Matthew and I went down to San Diego to celebrate his big bday with his family and we had such a great time, as usual! The weather was absolutely perfect so we got sandwiches and went to the beach with his brother and best friend. It was so nice to sit outside and soak in the sun.

eep! dodging a ball!

I love Matthew's family so much! They are the sweetest people and I just adore my nieces and nephews {so cool to be able to say that now.. yay I'm an aunt!}. Look how cute these kiddos are! They bring big smiles to my face!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Happy first of August!!

fourth of july weekend

Matthew and I {and Ginger} had a very fun 4th of July weekend! We went down to San Diego to see my bestie Lizzie and Matthew's family and then came back to LA yesterday to spend the afternoon and evening with my family. It was just the weekend we've been needing and I'm even more excited that Matthew has the day off today so we can relax from it all.

There was pizza at Pizzeria Luigi in San Diego, a sundae bar at Matthew's Nana's house, pretty and delicious marshmallows decorated by Matthew's sister Grace, brunch at Parkhouse Eatery, lots of puppy love!, watermelon/orange/feta salad, and a delicious Strawberry Fool for dessert {meaning you'd be a fool to think this dessert was healthy!} Oh yeah and really cool fireworks! The bottom right one makes me think of a bouquet of Baby's Breath, don't you think? I hope you all had a happy and safe holiday!

The winner of the Boy Meets Girl giveaway is...Leigh! Congrats!
Thanks everyone for entering. I have a couple other giveaways planned in the next couple weeks, too!

there's no such thing as too much pizza

Matthew and I had to make a stop at Bronx Pizza while we were in San Diego last. He has always thought it was the best pizza in San Diego but funny enough he found a new favorite when he was down there last week. I have yet to try the new favorite so I think Bronx is still pretty good! Plus they thought they burned the pesto too much and gave us two extra slices!! You can never have too much pizza!

I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Any special plans? Matthew and I are making it a beach day tomorrow. I think it's the second time we've been all summer..so sad!

look book: calling in the troops

I am so excited about this green military jacket I got the other week! I got it at H&M and I know it's going to be a staple in my fall wardrobe. I love the length and how it's still fitted. It also has a cute belt for when it gets cold. I have so many ideas for how I want to wear it. yay for inspiration!

On Saturday night Matthew and I had a triple date with his brother and his best friend. It was fun to go out to dinner in a group and talk! We went to this really cute restaurant in San Diego's North Park called Urban Solace. They had such a great menu and Matthew and I shared a Grilled Four Cheese Sandwich with fresh basil and tomato and a creamy tomato-fennel soup and The “Original” Watermelon/Tomato/Cucumber Salad with pine nuts, feta, currants and a pomegranate vinaigrette. Seriously delicious! And it was so fun to sit outside.

walking around seaport village

Before Matthew and I headed back up to LA we stopped by Seaport Village, this really cute area in San Diego. The sun was shining, people were flying kites, shopping, eating yummy treats, and talking to parrots! I wish we could have spent more time there, and maybe had a picnic, but we had to start the drive back. {For not being too far away traffic can be horrible!} Still, it was fun to walk around and see what this place is all about.

I'm looking forward to our next trip back! Now that the weather is heating up, and there are predictions for a very warm September and October, we can finally get our surf lessons on! It was on my list of New Year's Resolutions, remember?
